Mykonos is an island in the Aegean Sea and belongs to the Cyclades. The island had a population of 9,320 people. The island is 86.125 sq km and has a coastline of 89 km. To the north located Tinos and to the northwest are the islands of Delos and Syros. to the south are the islands of Paros and Naxos.

Mykonos has an irregular triangle shape interrupted by small coves , most important of which is Panormos to the north and Tourlos to the west where the main port and the capital are located. Within 2 miles west from the island is the ancient Delos and west of this is the island of Rineia along with other islets, all uninhabited .
The territory of Mykonos is mostly rocky and slightly smooth. There are only two mountains. The highest peak is called the " Prophetes Elias. The island lacks forests and presents little plantation with corresponding limited cultivation mainly in wheat , grapes and figs. It has many torrents and no rivers. The oldest water supply was from wells . Today's water needs are covered by the desalination plant , which operates in Korfos , and two dams.
